What is the Orwell Prize?
It's Britain's pre-eminent political writing prize, awarding one prize for a book and one prize for journalism every year.
So what makes you different from other book and journalism prizes?
Our judges expect excellence in both content and style, hence our references to Orwell's own ambition 'to make political writing into an art'.
What connection do you have with George Orwell?
The George Orwell Memorial Trust was founded by Sir Bernard Crick using money from his biography of Orwell, Crick having been given unrestricted access to Orwell's papers by his late widow, Sonia. Richard Blair, Orwell's adopted son, is a member of the Orwell Trust and a kind sponsor.
Will you be adding more content to the website?
